WallyPaper Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 27, 2026 Applies to: the WallyPaper app for iPhone, including the WallyPaper widget

The short version

WallyPaper does not collect, store or share any personal information. There is no account to create, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and we run no servers. Your photos are processed entirely on your iPhone and WallyPaper never uploads your photos. Copies leave your iPhone only when you save or share a wallpaper yourself, or as part of an iCloud or computer backup you have turned on, which is covered by Apple's privacy policy. The only other party involved is Apple, which also handles App Store purchases.

1. Your photos

  • Choosing a photo: WallyPaper uses Apple's system photo picker. The picker runs outside the app, so WallyPaper only ever receives the photo you select. It cannot browse, read or scan the rest of your photo library, and it never asks for permission to do so.
  • Taking a photo: If you tap Take a Photo, iOS asks for camera permission. The picture is used only to make your wallpaper. WallyPaper does not save camera photos to your photo library; only the finished wallpaper is saved, and only when you tap Save to Photos.
  • Finding your child or pet: The cutout is made by Apple's Vision framework, which runs entirely on your device. The photo is not sent to us, to Apple, or to anyone else for processing.
  • What the app keeps: WallyPaper works from a downscaled copy of your photo. It keeps the cut-out subject (or, when no subject can be found, the downscaled photo itself) as part of your project. It does not keep or use the photo's location, camera or other metadata, and the wallpaper it produces is freshly rendered, so it contains no such metadata from the original photo.

2. What is stored on your device

Everything WallyPaper stores stays on your iPhone, in the app's private storage:

  • Projects: the cut-out images, your design (background, name text, fonts, positions), a thumbnail, and a rendered copy of the wallpaper for the widget.
  • Preferences: a few settings, such as whether the intro has been shown and whether the Lock Screen preview is on.

This storage is shared only with the WallyPaper widget on the same device, so it can display your latest wallpapers. Nothing in it is transmitted anywhere.

You can delete a project at any time from the library. Deleting the app deletes all of its data. Wallpapers you have saved to Photos are separate and stay there until you delete them in Photos.

Backups: If you use iCloud Backup or back up your iPhone to a computer, WallyPaper's data may be included in that backup like any other app's data. Backups are controlled by you in your device settings and are covered by Apple's privacy policy, not ours.

3. Saving, sharing and setting a wallpaper

  • Save to Photos: When you save a wallpaper, iOS asks for permission to add to your photo library. This add-only permission lets WallyPaper place the wallpaper in Photos; it does not let the app see or read anything already there.
  • Share: The Share button uses the standard iOS share sheet. The wallpaper goes only to the app or person you choose, and their privacy practices apply from that point.
  • Set as wallpaper: iOS does not allow apps to change your wallpaper directly. WallyPaper opens the Photos app and shows you the steps; the wallpaper is set by you, in Photos.

4. Purchases (WallyPaper Pro)

WallyPaper Pro subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are sold through Apple's App Store using Apple's StoreKit framework. Apple handles the entire transaction. We never receive your name, email address, payment details or Apple Account information. The app checks whether Pro is unlocked using Apple's on-device purchase records, and Restore Purchases works the same way. We do not use any third-party purchase or subscription service.

Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

5. Permissions WallyPaper may ask for

PermissionWhenWhy
CameraOnly if you tap Take a PhotoTo take a photo for your wallpaper
Add to PhotosOnly when you save a wallpaperTo place the finished wallpaper in your photo library

WallyPaper never requests access to read your photo library, your location, contacts, microphone or notifications. No tracking. WallyPaper processes your photos entirely on your iPhone and never sends them anywhere.

6. Information we do not collect

We do not collect any personal information, usage data or device identifiers. WallyPaper contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash-reporting service and no tracking of any kind. The app itself makes no network connections; the only network activity comes from Apple's StoreKit framework handling purchases, and from links (such as this policy) that open in Safari.

Apple may share anonymised crash logs and usage statistics with developers, but only if you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's Settings. That data is collected by Apple under Apple's privacy policy.

7. Children's privacy

WallyPaper is made for parents and pet owners; it is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age where you live). Because the app collects no information from anyone, it collects no information from children. Photos you use in the app stay on your device, as described above.

8. Your rights

Privacy laws such as the GDPR, the UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights over personal data that companies hold about you. WallyPaper holds none: we have no data about you to access, correct, export, delete, sell or share. Everything the app stores is on your device and under your control.

9. Security

Your projects live inside WallyPaper's private storage on your iPhone, protected by your device's own security: your passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and iOS encryption. We run no servers and hold no copy of your data. The only copies outside your iPhone are the backups and saved photos you control.

10. Changes to this policy

If WallyPaper ever changes in a way that affects your privacy, we will update this page and the effective date at the top.
